She turned into a rebellious women full of pride in herself, consequently, leading her to tell God one night, “I give You till midnight to do something about me, and if You don’t, then I’ll understand that You don’t love me and You don’t exist. D’ Clario now a young women in college began questioning her faith and the God she served, which led her to living a double life (being a Christian ONLY at Church and a non-believer everywhere else).Ĭonsequently, this lead to a dark moment in her life were she began suffering an extreme bout of depression and suicidal thoughts(Vituolis 1).

Affection is what she most longed for and she sought it in a boy she met at a service a guy who took advantage of that and began controlling her until she realized she couldn’t take it anymore and ended their relationship(Neri 1). Even though, the only escape for Christine was music, song writing, Church and Jesus, the Jesus she was writing songs about and singing of wasn’t truly the King of her heart… she felt empty. She entered her adolescence years where she began having self-esteem issues believing that she was the ugliest girl from her family because she had a deformity in her teeth, which led her to getting braces and therefore, dropping her self-esteem even more. At the young age of nine she became the worship leader in her local congregation(Neri 1) ().Īs D’ Clario grew she became a victim of sexual harassment by her babysitters, which she never mentioned to anyone. Those trials and tribulations eventually led her to the church, for she knew God was her only refuge. Her father’s death had made way for an emotional imbalance in Christine’s life which was only exacerbated by the change in culture and language. Christine loved her father so much, and the idea of a step-father just couldn’t be grasped in her mind or heart. Shortly after Christine’s mother remarried, which brought more frustration to Christine’s life. Her mother then decided to move to Puerto Rico where Christine would be spending her formative years overcoming many personal hardships. She was raised up in a Christian home by her mother(Vitoulis 1).Ĭhristine’s father died of hepatic cirrhosis due to his alcoholism, when she was only seven.
